After years of delays, the new Elizabeth line is finally open. Built by Crossrail project, the service will boost capacity and cut journey times for east-west travel across London. We look at where you can find a Build to Rent home to make the most of this new connectivity.
Where does it run to and from?
The Elizabeth line will operate in three separate sections, with the central section just opened running from Paddington in west London to Abbey Wood. Overall, the line stretches from Reading in Berkshire and Heathrow Airport in west London to Abbey Wood and Shenfield in Essex.
What are the benefits of living close by?
Commuting is set for a big overhaul now the line is finally open. The biggest advantage will be the shorter journey times with Londoners seeing their commuting times tumbling. For example, the Canary Wharf to Liverpool Street trip used to take 21 minutes and now can be completed in just six minutes. Paddington to Tottenham Court Road will take just four minutes compared to twenty minutes previously and the number of trains throughout have been increased, which should hopefully reduce congestion.
Where are the new stations?
Several new stations are being built to complement the existing stations that have been redeveloped. The main ones are:
- Paddington
- Bond Street
- Tottenham Court Road
- Farringdon
- Liverpool Street
- Whitechapel
- Canary Wharf
- Custom House
- Woolwich
- Abbey Wood
